SYNOPSIS & DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Completeness exists nowhere, still the quest continues. The sporadic searches compiled together forms a collage named 'Ongshoto Mahabharat'. Mahabharata is an epic of our own nation. It's the mirror of our civilization. In this play we imagine and wreathe together some imaginary scenes of Mahabharata which were never told or seen.

Hence, this play is an epic search not an epic itself.

SYNOPSIS of Every Episode of the Drama Series

Episode 1: Bheem - Hirimba

On the way to Mahaprasthana (the ultimate voyage to swarga ,the heaven) Bheem thinks about his past and thinks about his other wife Hirimba the mother of Ghatatkach. She arrives and accuses him for depriving her and holds him responsible for the demise of her son. Her cry becomes the cry of the all the tribal people of our nation who are being manipulated by the so called Aryans.

Episode 2: Yudhisthir - Nishad Maa

After reaching heaven the Dharmaraj Yudhisthir goes to Narak (The hell) to meet the Nishad maa, the tribal mother of five sons whom are burnt alive in jatugriha. He begs forgiveness to the mother who eventually forgives him but the rage of her burns Yudhisthir's inner self and he drowns in the ocean of repentance.

Episode 3: Karna - Radha

Karna was killed by Arjuna in the battle field of Kurukshetra. In the night, the mother Radha who brought up and nurtured Karana comes to meet Karna in Kurukshetra, amidst the heap of dead bodies. She finds the body of Karna and talks with him. She accuses him for being a soldier of immoral Kouravas. Their conversation takes a bizarre turn and leaves everyone perplexed.

Episode 4: Krishna - Gandhari

After the death of her 100 sons, Gandhari cursed Krishna, that like the great Kurubangsha his family would also be annihilated and Krishna would have been killed by a mere hunter. After 36 years, the curse comes true, Krishnna's Yadav Vans (Clan) was destroyed by killing each other. The lonely dejected krishna waits for his death and remembers Gandhari. Gandhari arrives and Krishna requests her to withdraw the curse. She tries to save the God but God accepts death like any other human being.

Episode 5: Ashwatthama - Draupadi

Ashwatthama killed five sons of Draupadi when they were sleeping in the tent, to take the revenge of his father's killing. Krishna cursed him, that he will remain alive forever like a creeper. After 1000 years he is living his cursed life in a forrest and Draupadi comes. She forgives him but the questions remain unanswered: Where is the end of Bloodshed? Where is the end of War??

Episode 6: Dasi - Vyas Dev

After 2 nights of distress, Queen Ambika sends her maid into the room of Vyas Deva in disguise. Vyas recognises her and gets agitated. However, her simplicity and honesty moulded his heart and he gives her blessing and she was blessed with the greatest son of Kuruvans, the Vidura.
