Established: 4 TH NOVEMBER 1974

Since then we are relentlessly engaged in theatre and related works. We performed 72 plays which includes full length, one act, street plays and plays for children. Among them more than 40plays are original manuscript. Some of them are adaptation and translations of classics of greats like Rabindranath Tagore, Abanindranath Tagore, Shakespeare, Mahesh Duttani .We started separate wing for the children in 1995 and continued regular productions theatre classes, workshops and festivals for them. We travelled almost all the districts of our state and other states like U.P and Assam. We also perform street plays and intimate theatres regarding various social issues. We were invited and participated in many prestigious festivals like: ‘Kolkata Natyomela’ (State level theatre festival in Kolkata, WestBengal), National children Theatre festival Guwahati ,Assam and INDO-BANGLA international festival, Coochbehar (WestBengal) and Balurghat,and many more. We strongly believe that ‘’Theatre is not only for entertainment it is a weapon to change the society.”

Thinking for Better Future

According to W.H.O, theatre is very effective medium of education for the children. During the production process of theatre they can learn hardest of topics as well as morale values in a very friendly and cordial atmosphere. Building an honest, strong next generation with pure cultural and social values is our primary mission. That is why; we are having a strong unit for and by the children. We conduct workshops, classes and produce at least one children’s play every year.

Some of our popular productions for children are: Mon Paboner Nao(2004), Surya Lutth(2000), Ksheerer Putul(2005), Ichche Ichhe(2008), Buro angla(2010), Indur(2012), Vokatta(2014)

We are organizing “SCHOOL DRAMA FESTIVAL EXHIBITION AND SYMPOSIA” every year for 20years. Previously it was only drama completion of schools. Since 2007 it took the shape of festival. Elite schools of town and schools from the remote villages participate here. This makes this festival a real cultural union. Besides theatre, there are symposia on different theatrical issues. During the fest, different theatre props, models and posters made by the participating students are exhibited, that add more colour to it. Participating schools are provided with all the functional and technical assistance necessary for the production, including script, dress, and make up, lights e.t.c. Monitory assistance in terms of production cost is also provided. Our fest usually generates enough enthusiasm among the students, teachers, guardians towards theatre and it surely evokes cultural and social awareness among the students. More over it creates a sort of cultural bondage among the participants coming from different economic and social background.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to produce meaningful and serious theatrical presentation, to spread theatre in the town as well as sub-urban and rural areas. We are here to help growing theatre consciousness among the children and youth, and to spread theatre at school level keeping in mind the importance of theaere in education.
