SYNOPSIS

In a nation that is obsessed with flying kites, the story is set in a small town of West Bengal, where a nine-year-old orphan, Lattu works in his uncle's garbage-recycling business. The blue skies above the town is dominated by a kite named 'Kali' with mysterious origins. Out of the many kids who dream to defeat Kali, Lattu is more determined. He does fail on number of occasions but one fine day, his will find a way. He discovers a local school having a roof that renders him some strategic advantage. Impersonating as a student, he sneaks into the school and must now pretend to study. The only problem - he can't read or write! The little street urchin takes up the challenge as when the desire is strong, dreams aren't impossible.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Nothing is impossible. Our play reiterates the clichéd but inspiring phrase again. If you fix a goal in your life and thrive
by heart to achieve it, your dream, how unattainable it seems, can be fulfilled. Vokatta not only depicts, the illiterate boy’s
bizarre journey of wish fulfillment but also adds a hopeful note to the aching problem of India’s street kids and child labours.
The play also shows the way to make education attractive for the school dropouts like Lattu. Moreover, this play hits the right note on the true spirit of life and friendship.
